Reducing Resonance in a Motor/Axle Model

My team and I were given a motor/drive-axle system that was modeled after a quarter hybrid vehicle model that was experiencing low frequency resonance when changing speeds, especially during active braking. Our team was tasked with:

  • Reproducing the braking resonance and response

  • Investigate existance and effect of non-linearities due to friction

  • Develop and validate a linearized and nonlinearized model of the motor/drive axle

  • Propose 4 options to reduce resonance amplitude by 30%
